Rogue Traders/Visitors

Derbyshire Trading Standards Service has received a complaint about rogue traders visiting properties in the Shirebrook area.

The trader knocks on the door offering to clean gutters for £20. However, once they start, they say more work is needed to the roof tiles.

It is alleged that they may be creating the damage to the roof tiles to force the householder into agreeing to the further repairs, at a hugely inflated price.

Our advice is to not deal with traders who knock at the door like this. If you require property repairs, Derbyshire County Council operates a Trusted Trader scheme whose members have been vetted to ensure a reliable service.

The Trusted Trader scheme may be contacted on 01629 533190, or at the following link:

If yours is a Council property, please contact your local Council.

If you have a complaint to make about a rogue trader, please contact Citizen's Advice Consumer Services on 0345 4 040506.
