Co-option - Further Details

Now the co-option process has officially started we would like to share further details on how it will progress.

Applications can be downloaded from the link provided or collected from the office (9am till 1pm, Mon-Fri), completed forms should be handed into reception at the Town Hall, the closing date is Wednesday 12th November at 4:00pm.

Candidates will be invited to attend a Council meeting where they will be afforded the opportunity to introduce themselves and expand on their application for five minutes.

After all candidates have been seen the selection process will begin, a successful candidate will have to be proposed and seconded prior to an overall vote, to be elected absolute majority must be obtained (50% + 1 of available votes at the meeting).

On the evening once the selection process has concluded, the chairman will declare the successful candidates duly elected and after signing their declaration of acceptance of office, may take their seat immediately.

There are 9 Councillor positions available in total. However, Shirebrook Town Council aren't obliged to fill those positions at the meeting.
